MY STORY AS A BUSINESS OWNER

So there I was staring at my screen, the ninth unanswered email had just come into my inbox for the afternoon… I felt overwhelmed and tired. I knew I needed help.

Hi, I'm James Hamilton

Founder of Australian Outsourcing Group. Like many of you, I’m a small business owner who faced the ups and downs of business life. Let me tell you how hiring a virtual employee changed everything.

The Beginning

Back in 2014, I was offered my boss’s bookkeeping business. Nervous but excited, I took the leap into business ownership. Six months in I was drowning. I was working in the business but not on the business. I was too busy handling the bookkeeping needs of my clients, I didn’t have the time to go out and find new business. I needed help that wouldn’t blow the bank and I needed it fast.

The Discovery

A hot cup of coffee and a simple google search led me to my EUREKA! moment in discovering virtual employees.

I knew I needed help with emails, data entry, calendar management, just someone to give me a helping hand.

That’s when I found Lyn. My first Virtual Employee.

Lyn was a godsend. She cleaned up my emails, handled social media, and gave me those precious hours I needed to actually work ON my business.

The Snowball Effect

With Lyn handling my admin I could focus on growth. Word of mouth was bringing me some clients. But I knew the future was in digital marketing.

The only problem was, I didn’t have the first clue about it. Yes I had a Facebook account but I didn’t know I could use it to actually find clients. It seemed abstract to me. Who would use Facebook to find their next bookkeeper?

Enter Marcus. My Digital Knight in Shining Armour.

This is Marcus. He doesn’t always wear the shining armour (I think). He was an expert in all things digital marketing.

He set up my Facebook campaigns, handled the creative side of things that I wasn’t any good at. He optimized my google campaigns to the point that I couldn’t keep up with the leads coming in.

Meet Maria

(My superhero on the phone)

Marcus’s Digital Campaigns were bringing me more leads than I could handle (a good problem to have I know) Enter the god send that was Maria. My very own Phone Super hero.

Maria was an expert at closing potential leads for me over the phone. She made people feel comfortable. Her warm tone and humour shone through to people over the phone.

Maria was the Thor or Iron Man in my virtual employee Avengers squad that I seemed to be assembling. Perhaps the most important member of my team.

Building the Dream Team

By 2019 I had a team of 12 virtual employees in my now nearly seven figure bookkeeping business. I was lucky enough to sell that business and move onto my new found passion.

Helping small business owners do the same thing that I did.

My Mission Today
